Police officers have launched investigations into the disappearance of a German national, Paul Topf, who has been residing in Kwale since 2012.
Reports on K24 indicate that police suspect foul play on the whereabouts of the 54-year-old ex-soldier.
Initial investigations by the police indicate that Topf never left the country, as alleged by his wife Neema Nyawira.
According to Nyawira, her husband was deported from the country last week, and arrived safely in Germany.
Speaking to K24 Digital, Nyawira said her sister, who resides in Germany confirmed that Topf arrived safely.
“My sister resides in Germany. We have been communicating since my husband went missing after he was picked from our house [by four men and a woman] a week ago. I had requested my sister to visit Topf’s house in Germany and inquire if he had arrived safely.
"Yesterday morning [Monday, December 4], she called to inform me that Topf had landed safely in Germany. I am yet to understand why he is yet to reach me on phone,” Nyawira told K24 Digital on Tuesday.
Topf reportedly went missing from his home in Lunga Lunga, Kwale County on 26 November, 2019.
Nyawira had reported to the police that four men had picked his husband claiming to be officers from the Immigration Department.
Speaking to the publication, Kwale County Police Commander, Joseph Nthenge, said Nyawira recorded a statement with them, which will help in their follow up.
“We are actively investigating Topf’s disappearance. As of now, we can’t authoritatively say where he is, given his phone is offline. However, we are following crucial leads to establish his whereabouts,” said Nthenge as quoted by K24.
