In an interview on NTV on Tuesday, Midiwo said he felt good when he saw the marathoner cross the line in less than two hours.

He further noted that he is proud of the athlete, and urged the government to support him and other sports personalities in different ways including tax exemption.

"When Kipchoge crossed that line I felt so good I cried. It is good to see Kenyans doing well. Uhuru please tell KRA not to touch his money, “he said.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi thanked Kipchoge for putting Kenya on the World map, adding that his achievement cannot be taken for granted.

“As a marathoner, I have run at least 8 marathons now, I want to congratulate my colleague. Why is everyone focusing on what he earned and not the mind change he has impacted on the entire world?” he posed.
