Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament has weighed in on the troubles of controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna.

Writing on Twitter, the former legislator defended the moral integrity of the Canadian-based lawyer currently locked in a fast-paced standoff with immigration authorities.

Kabando wa Kabando appeared to take issue with the alleged mistreatment Miguna Miguna was undergoing in the hands of the Kenyan government.

He suggested that the lawyer was being treated as if he is a criminal.

"Miguna is anything.....even eccentric, intolerant to divergent views etc but Miguna is not a thief, is not a drug trafficker, is not a looter, is not unintelligent. Kenya should trend globally for nailing + jailing big thieves and drug barons patronising our corridors of power, " read the tweet of the former legislator read.

Miguna is stranded at a German airport after being denied permission to travel to Kenya following the issuance of a red alert against him by the Kenyan government.

A court had ordered the government to facilitate the lawyer's return to the country by issuing him with a passport, an order that it said it would comply with.

In a statement on Wednesday, the government said that Miguna would not be allowed to travel back to the country without travel documents because of his unruly behaviour.
