Governor Nyagarama advertised the 10 positions early this month ahead of the expiry of current holders' contracts on November 3rd.

Already, ad-hoc committee has been put in place to scrutinize the names of those interested in the positions, and the final list for interviews will be due soon.

Sources close with the ongoing power arrangements intimate that a number of interested people have been knocking at the governor's door for favours.

"The applicants are many but the governor needs only ten. A number of those serving have also applied and this even makes the game plans to be complicated," said an aide to Nyagarama.

"What I can guarantee you is that the governor will retain one or two from previous cabinet. The rest will have to go home no matter the lobbying," added another aide.

After interviews, CPSB will recommend several names from which the governor will pick ten for consideration in the county assembly.

Majority Leader Duke Masira on Tuesday said the assembly will look at the competence of those recommended and make informed decisions.

"Let the governor do his job and let us do our job. We want people who can perform and that's what we will give the people of Nyamira. We are waiting for the names," he said.

Recently, Governor Nyagarama failed to renew contracts for a number of his advisors, an indication of his changing tactics from the past.

Those who were sent home are Kefa Mocheche, former Deputy Chief of Staff, his boss Job Ong'ombe and Political Advisor Joash Gisore.
