A member of Nandi County Assembly is battling child negligence charges filed against him by his former wife.
The Sengalo/Kebulonik MCA Willy Maru is accused of failing to provide for his 8-year-old child who is currently in class two.
In a case filed at the Eldoret Children's Court, the MCA's ex-wife Irene Chepng'etich claimed they were married for 10 years, but once Maru was elected, he neglected her and the child.
She claims the MCA now has another lover even as she is struggling alone taking care of the child.
The ex-wife through lawyer Stanley Kagunza says efforts by the two families to solve the matter out of court has failed to bear fruits, with the MCA giving unfulfilled promises.
Irene now wants the MCA to pay Sh100,000 monthly for her and the child's upkeep.
Eldoret Principal Magistrate Christine Meya on Monday ordered the MCA to be paying the ex-wife Sh30,000 every 5th day of the month, pending hearing and determination of the case.
This is after the two parties agreed on the amount.
Hearing for the case continues on 12th November.
