Kenya can only defeat corruption if an all out war beginning from the top is declared on the vice, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said.
Speaking during an interview on Kameme FM, Mutua said to record a win against the graft dragon, the fight should begin from the presidency, to all other state officers, and then down to citizens..
"We can only win this war if all of us, from the president, will decide to fight. Hii corruption iko kila mahali hata kwa bunge (corruption is everywhere, including the parliament) everyone wants something that does not belong to them," he said.
He said Kenyans are suffering harsh economic times due to corruption, and misappropriation of public resources.
The vocal governor said Kenya is a financially stable country, but the stability will only be seen and felt when the money is put to proper use, and corruption loopholes sealed tightly.
"Let's not say we have a poor country, we are a rich but corrupt country," added the county boss.
Mutua noted that he has been leading by example in Machakos, and has ensured that county funds are put to proper use, hence his ability to do more than fellow governors.
