Police in Kisumu are investigating the disappearance of a form two girl, who reportedly went missing on January 5, 2019.
14-year-old Gladys Chepkoech is said to have gone missing after leaving her home in Chiga, for her aunt's home in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, after which she was to report to school.
However, the girl never showed up at her aunt's place or the school.
The disappearance of the girl, who is a student at the AIC Kipleilel Secondary School, has left her relatives in agony, with her father stating that they have been very worried since then.
“She left home at around mid-day and we expected her to reach her aunt’s home in Kitale that evening," he told the Standard on Monday.
Meanwhile, reports on Standard indicate that a man was seen with the girl at a local bar before she went missing.
The man, a pharmacist at St Elizabeth Hospital, was arrested and later released on Sh7,000 and Sh5,000 cash bails.
Area police boss Ezekiel SIngo'i confirmed the case, adding that his officers are investigating the issue.
“We established that there is a young man who has been in contact with the missing girl and we have the suspect in custody,” Sing'oi said.
