The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has given a warning to the general public over the mistreatment of animals.
In a tweet on Friday, the DCI warned people against cruelty to animals.
The DCI highlighted several ways people mistreat animals, which they cannot defend themselves against.
"Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act|Chapter 360 Revised Edition 2012(1983) states: 3(1) A person shall be guilty of an offence of cruelty if he/she; a)Cruelly beats, kicks, ill-treats, over-rides, over-drives, over-loads, tortures, infuriates or terrifies any animal," said the DCI.
If a person is found exposing an animal to such types of cruelty, the DCI noted that he/she will be punished according to the law.
"#Punishment| Any person found guilty of cruelty shall be liable to a fine not exceeding three thousand shillings or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both," added the DCI.
