Political analyst David Makali has faulted former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale for degrading himself politically after the scuttling of the rally he was to attend in Mumias on Saturday.
The former Bungoma senatorial aspirant says that the leader should have avoided the press conference after his encounter with the police at the Nabongo Grounds in Mumias.
He notes that by holding a lone presser, Khalwale came out as a defeated man, given that none of the leaders he was planning the rally with showed up for the press conference.
Makali, also a political scientist, argues that this dented Khalwale's political muscles, noting that he also failed to make the rally a success after repeatedly declaring that it will happen.
"Too bad for Boni, I saw him holding a press conference alone, I didn't see the people he was organizing the meeting with. I think he would have done a better job to avoid that press conference, he was quite a loser of the contest between the two meetings," he said.
He spoke in an interview on K24's Punchline show on Sunday night.
The second rally was the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) forum held at the Bukhungu Stadium. The Mumias rally was being seen as an attempt to undermine the BBI function.
About the BBI rally, Makali said that it was a success, judging by the number of attendees, both leaders and locals who were present.
He added that the attendance of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his FORD Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula was another plus for the organizers of the BBI rally.
"The meeting can be ranked as a success, the turnout wasn't too bad, the high turnout of the leaders was also good. The fact that Musalia and Wetangula finally made it also gave them additional points," he added.
Musalia and Wetangula were initially being associated with the Mumias rally, but would later show up at the BBI forum, also attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga.
