Gachagua, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto has also told the former Prime Minister not to expect for any handshake after the next general elections.

"We want him to publicly make a commitment to the people of Kenya, that once he's defeated the fifth time, he shall accept defeat, na hatapeleka watu kwa barabara, hatafanya false swearing ceremony, na hatakuja kutafuta William Ruto mambo ya handshake (we hope he won't organize street demonstrations, neither will he plan false swearing nor seek Ruto's ''handshake'," said the MP in a video shared on Facebook (1.44)

He also claimed that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyata and Raila was a tool to help the ODM leader easily ascend to the presidency.

Gachagu's sentiments were echoed by DP Ruto who asked Raila to accept defeat should he lose again.

"But I do not have a problem competing with Odinga in 2022. But he must first commit to Kenyans that in case of a defeat, he will gracefully accept the decision of Kenyans,” said Ruto as quoted by the Star

The DP spoke during a visit to Meru county on Sunday.

He was accompanied with Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, MPs Mugambi Rindiki(Buuri), Jayne Kihara (Naivasha) and Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia) among others.
