Deputy President (DP) William Ruto has remained firm even as critics pour cold water on his 2022 presidential ambitions.
Ruto is among top politicians who are keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 general election.
The DP‘s ambition has however been rubbished by a section of his critics who claim that he is not fit to take over the country’s top leadership in 2022.
Despite the growing criticism against his 2022 presidential bid, Ruto has remained focused as his allies push for his candidature.

As DP Ruto seeks to get Mt Kenya’s support in 2022, there are politicians who are likely to play a key role in his presidential campaigns.
1. Uhuru Kenyatta
President Kenyatta is the current Mt Kenya political kingpin.
Uhuru is serving his last term in office and has been quoted saying that his choice for a successor will surprise Kenyans.
In 2013, Uhuru allegedly vowed to support Ruto’s presidential candidature in 2022. Ruto will easily win Mt Kenya votes if he gets Uhuru’s endorsement and support.
2. Ferdinand Waititu
The Kiambu governor is among politicians pushing for Ruto’s candidature in 2022.
Waititu says Mt Kenya owes Ruto a political debt which it has to pay in 2022.
According to Waititu, President Kenyatta would not have won the presidency in 2013 and 2017 general election if it was not for the support he got from Ruto.
3. Kimani Ichung’wa
The youthful Kikuyu MP is among the political 'engines' pushing for Ruto’s candidature in 2022 election.
Ichung'wa has maintained that Mt Kenya will massively rally behind the Deputy President in 2022.
4. Susan Kihika
The Nakuru Senator is among vocal female politicians in Mt Kenya and a close ally of DP Ruto.
Kihika is expected to play a key role in Ruto’s 2022 presidential campaigns.
With a massive following, Kihaka can help DP Ruto secure Mt Kenya's votes and win the 2022 presidential election.
