Mercy Mburugu, 13, launched her first two books on Saturday at Port Reitz Special School.

Mercy launched her two first books titled "Expectations Vs Reality and In Search of my Dad, I landed in Police Hands" in an event that was attended by fellow students, parents and teachers from neighbouring schools.

Speaking during the event, she revealed that her books are a reflection of real-life experience from herself and what she learned from friends and relatives.

"During the school holidays, I interacted with my cousins who are in boarding schools. They told me that three girls ran away from school one night. Bad behaviour is rampant in primary and secondary schools. Students can choose to follow school rules, work hard and get good grades," Mercy said as quoted by Daily Nation.

The teenage girl whose hobbies include reading, writing and praying said that she started writing when she was as young as 9.

She noted writing needs organisation, focus and determination in order to put together all the ideas.

"Mercy is not very outgoing but she is a problem solver. Congratulations on launching the books," said Memon Academy headteacher Constantine Dzombo.

The books were edited by Fredrick Oyiera, Mercy's English teacher, who said she is good at expressing herself by writing.
