Thirdway Alliance Party leader Ekuru Aukot has been handed a major reprieve in the push for a referendum after a court dismissed a petition seeking to block Punguza Mizigo Bill 2019.
In a tweet on Thursday, Aukot said that he is glad that the court refused to grant one James Gakuyo his wish after he filed a case against his team.
The former presidential candidate resolved to seek plan B after the Members of the County Assembly rejected the initial Bill.
He said that he is grateful to the court for giving him the green light to proceed with the motion.
“We are happy to inform the public that the malicious, vexatious and frivolous suit filed against Thirdway Alliance Kenya and IEBC to stop the #PunguzaMizigoBill201 by one James Gakuyo of Ekeza Sacco was withdrawn by the petitioners yesterday, “he tweeted.
Aukot has been faulting mainstream political parties for the failure of the Bill. He has lamented that the parties have frustrated him so much since he embarked.
“Political jealousy is real in this country. Some people think that they own the public space. If it is not them that make a proposition, then anything won’t fly,” says Aukot.
