Political analyst Benji Ndolo claims that Kibra parliamentary hopeful McDonald Mariga's current tribulations might end up landing him the seat ultimately.
The former Kenyan international soccer star was earlier in the week barred from the race over claims that his name was missing from IEBC's registry.
Ndolo says that there are chances that the ruling will be overturned, landing him in the race, where the perception that he is being targeted might be of great benefit to him.
According to Ndolo, it's very likely that Mariga will end up garnering the sympathy vote before proceeding to beat the rest of the aspirants to carry the day.
"Have seen the affidavit of Mariga. Here’s where it gets interesting, decision will probably be overturned and the banged up perception that he is being persecuted could earn plenty sympathy votes. Brilliant strategy in a sense. Add many candidates and could get dicey. -Sr Analyst (sic)," he tweeted, Wednesday.
He added that this might be further enhanced by a large number of candidates in the race, among them ODM's Imran Okoth.
Mariga's candidature has been largely questioned on the basis that he emerged from nowhere to claim the seat, with other politicians terming him a senior politician's project.
However, he has rubbished these claims.
