Mr Ng'eno and two MCAs from Narok were arrested after allegedly staging a protest against Mau forest evictions with government insisting that they went against the law.

While confirming the arrests, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya declared the area a no-go- zone for politicians.

“We don’t want politics in Mau forest, let them address their issues in boardrooms or at press conferences in Nairobi,” Natembeya told The Standard on phone

The three were brought to Police Station in Narok on Wednesday before being whisked away by the police without being charged of anything.

Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, while confirming their release, accused Environment CS Keriako Tobiko of holding the three illegally.

"Finally Hon.Johana Ng’eno&the MCAs have been released unconditionally because they had been arrested illegally for opposing a fake eviction which was not sanctioned by the government of Kenya.Tobiko&Natembea should be held individually responsible for the illegal arrests," he protested.

Although the government insists that evictions must go on, it reopened 15 schools that had been closed down in Mau complex with government saying they were illegally built.

Early on Wednesday, Murkomen insisted that President Uhuru Kenyatta has not ordered for any evictions adding that Mr Tobiko and Natembeya were doing it for political reasons.
