The Seventh Day Adventist Church East Kenya Union Conference Mission Extravaganza 2019 has kicked off in Nakuru.
The one week conference taking place at the Nakuru Agricultural Show Grounds has several activities lined up including service to the community.
In line with this, members of the SDA Church in partnership with the county government of Nakuru held a cleanup exercise at Mazembe grounds in Nakuru West on Monday.
The church also donated foodstuff and clothes to the locals.
Addressing media at Mazembe grounds on Monday during the activity, Pastor Robert Tinega who is in charge of evangelism at SDA Central Nakuru said the activities are in line with the mission of the church in taking care of humanity and environment.
The clergy added that the church is not only focusing on spiritual matters but also matters of humanity and the environment.
He called on society to follow the good example of Jesus Christ who cared for humanity and the environment.
"We are doing all these activities in line with our mission of service to better humanity even as we wait for the coming of Jesus Christ," he said.
According to the clergy, the Mission Extravaganza that began on Sunday is all about thanking God for mission work that has taken place within East Kenya Union Conference for the past five years (2015-2019).
The East Kenya Union Conference of the SDA Church started with five organisations; South Kenya Conference (Kisii town), Nyamira Conference, Central Rift Valley Conference (Nakuru), Central Kenya Conference (Nairobi) and Kenya Coast Field.
