Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has rubbished claims by a section of Wiper Party politicians that she is against Kalonzo Musyoka's 2022 presidential bid.
Ngilu says that the claims by a section of Wiper politicians are meant to tarnish her name and cause rifts between her and Kalonzo.
Governor Ngilu notes that she has no reason to frustrate or sabotage Kalonzo's 2022 ambition.
"It is unfortunate that some idle politicians are working hard to taint my name but want to tell them that I will not fall to petty issues and propaganda," she told journalists in Kitui Town on Saturday.
Governor Ngilu said that her political relationship with Kalonzo cannot be compromised.
The governor said that she fully supports Kalonzo's 2022 bid.
The Kitui governor, however, said that petty issues and propaganda among a section of Wiper politicians could derail Kalonzo's 2022 bid.
The governor claimed that some of Kalonzo's allies are spoiling his chances of succeeding president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has been quoted accusing Governor Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Governor Alfred Mutua (Machakos) of allegedly frustrating Kalonzo's 2022 dream.
Mulyungi alleges that the three Ukambani governors do not want Kalonzo to contest for the presidential seat in 2022.
Governor Kibwana has since rubbished the Wiper MP's claims.
Kalonzo is among top politicians who are seeking to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in the next general election.
The former Vice President says that it is his time to ascend to power and has ruled out stepping down for anyone.
