A young girl left a crowd in stitches when she showered Deputy President William Ruto with praises for being a good ‘Sunday school teacher’.
Esther Wangeci was exploiting the DP’s now popular remark that he attended Sunday school during his days as a kid.
Wangeci hailed the DP for correcting NASA leader Raila Odinga who on Mashujaa Day artistically claimed that there were crocodiles in River Jordan.
“Thank you uncle Willy for being a good Sunday school teacher. We now know there were no crocodiles in River Jordan,” Wangeci said amid a heavy laughter from the crowd.
During the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kakamega, Raila said their journey to Canaan as NASA stopped after they found mamba (crocodiles) at the river and were unable to cross to Canaan.
Promises of taking the country to Canaan was a popular rallying call by the Opposition during the 2017 presidential campaigns.
After Raila made the remark, Ruto hit back immediately sarcastically saying the Opposition leader would have been a good Sunday School teacher because he would have taught them about the ‘mamba section’.
According to young Wangeci, uncle Willy clarified that river Jordan did not have crocodiles.
“Children had been misled to believe otherwise,” she said.
The young girl also invited Ruto to their Sunday school at PEFA church in Nyeri.
Ruto was attending the ordination ceremony of regional bishops of the Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church at Karatina Stadium, Nyeri County.
