A young man from Sogomo estate in the outskirts of Eldoret town was on Tuesday busted stealing porridge from his neighbour.
The man who has only been identified only as Katam, was reportedly using a hosepipe to syphon porridge from his neighbour's house.
Mary Jepkoech, the neighbour, said the man had inserted a pipe into a sufuria through a wallboard that separates their rooms and started to syphon porridge.
"I cooked the porridge and left it on the table to cool but when I wanted to serve my children, I saw a pipe inserted into it," narrated the agitated mother of two.
Jepkoech is reported to have alerted her neighbours about the incident who reacted swiftly. They stormed into the young man's room and caught him red-handed still siphoning the tasty drink.
"He pleaded with us not to rough him up but we couldn't hear any of his cries, we disciplined him on the spot," noted Japheth one of the neighbours who busted the man engaging in the unusual activity.
The young man is said to have been a nuisance to the single mother who has always found her children's' food 'missing'.
"I had believed that there were evil spirits in this room which disappears with our food but luckily we caught the thief," said Jepkoech.
After giving him his share of beatings, residents cautioned the young man not to continue with the habit as it will land him into more trouble.
