Magoha revealed that the ministry intends to spend Sh3 trillion in the said period to employ more teachers and implement  different projects in the education sector.

In the report, which is set to be unveiled on Wednesday  in Nairobi, Magoha has outlined the commitment of the government to boost the quality of learning after the rolling out of the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC).

The CS said that the government has admitted that there is a shortage of teachers and has plans to recruit more in the next five years to cater for the needs of learners.

“The programmes and their associated activities are projected to cumulatively cost Sh3 trillion over the five-year period, with recurrent costs projected to account for about 90 per cent of the total projected cost,” reads the document in part, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The government will fund Sh2.32 trillion in budget while Sh666 billion will be sourced from donors.

The report has also highlighted some of the challenges facing the education sector including poor completion rate between Primary and Secondary stages.

Magoha said that the government has put in place several measures to reduce these cases.

The reports also notes that there is a disparity in the standards of education bases on regions, locations and gender among other aspects.

The stakeholders also said that it has emerged that learners at the basic education do not get adequate attention from teachers.
