Speaking during an interview with SkyNews to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, Jim expressed his concern over space destruction by countries who think they will get an advantage through the act.

"People need to know this_ you will not get an advantage over the united states by destroying space," said Jim as quoted by the SkyNews.

According to him, space is getting more dangerous because some nations have intentions to destroy it.

He emphasized on the need to use the planned US "space force" to convince people rightly and properly that they won't gain anything by destroying the space.

"That's the goal, so that the space can be preserved for unity, for science, for exploration, for commerce," he said.

Some countries including the US, China, Russia and India have shown their capability to shoot satellites out of the space.

The planned US space force which is meant to deter "countries who think they will get advantage by destroying the space" will see US President  Donald Trump become the sixth branch of the American military

Speaking at a meeting of the National space council, Trump ordered the creation of US "space force" by Pentagon. He said that the force will be separate but equal to the US Air force.
