A thief who broke into a church in Nyandarua County on Sunday left behind an apology letter after finding no cash.
The thief broke into Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa (PEFA) Church in Engineer Township on Sunday night hoping to find money following the Sunday service.
In the apology letter addressed to the church, the thief revealed that a member of the church had informed him that there would be a lot of money in the church.
“I was sent here by one of your fellow Christians who told me that the amount of money has been kept inside the church. But I got nothing. God bless you all and pray for me. Thanks,” read the letter as quoted by Daily Nationtion.co.ke.
The criminal then signed out the letter as “the person who broke the church”.
Rev Peter Wanyoike said the thief gained access into the church by destroying part of the church’s iron sheet walls.
While reacting to the Sunday incident, Rev Wanyoike said the church has forgiven him and asked him to come forward and confess saying they are ready to worship together.
“We found the letter in the church when the police arrived to commence their investigations. He believed there was some money in church; we have forgiven him. We are praying for him to get saved. He is welcome to confess and worship with us,” said Rev Wanyoike.
Confirming the incident, Nyandarua Police Commander Gideon Ngumi assured the church members that the police are looking into the matter.
