Shahbal, who served as President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee point man in the 2017 general elections, said that corruption has become part of the lives of Kenyans, adding that it has made the nation lag behind.

He recalled how he met Raila Odinga during his tenure as Road Minister and they discussed the loss of public resources.

Shahbal said that Raila told him that “we cannot eradicate corruption completely, but we can make it a high risk, low return business’’.

He also said that Kenyans are used to receiving handouts from politicians. The politician-cum-businessman added that a Kenyan cannot attend a rally unless he is paid to do so by a politician.

“We have all become corrupt. Sorry my friends, but 99 per cent of our politicians are corrupt. We are all sinners in this game, and let he who has not sinned cast the first stone. It starts from the ground up. Today in most parts of Kenya, the public won’t attend any political meeting unless they are given facilitation, “read part of his post.
