Rubia, Nairobi's first African Mayor was buried in Kandara, Murang'a County, on Monday in a ceremony that was attended by top politicians led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Cabinet Secretaries James Macharia (Transport), Eugene Wamalwa (Devolution) and Foreign Affairs Monica Juma were also present.

However, Atandi took notice of Ruto's absence and ridiculed him saying he had zero representation, observing not even area MP Alice Wahome mentioned him while making her speech during the ceremony.

Wahome is the chairperson of Inua Mama women group which campaigns for the DP's 2022 presidential bid.

"DP William Ruto gave Charles Rubia's funeral a wide berth. There was zero representation for him. His Tanga Tanga representative Hon Alice Wahome appeared confused, never mentioned his name. Rubia's life of purity could not be tainted by his dark presence," Atandi tweeted.

Another leader who was conspicuously missing in the event was ODM party leader Raila Odinga but he was represented by Siaya Senator and Senate Minority Leader James Orengo who read his condolence message.

President Uhuru mourned Rubia as a hardworking person and asked Kenyans to emulate him.

"I send my condolences to the family of the late Charles Rubia. We are here to mourn but also to celebrate him and thank God for the many years he gave Charles which he used to build this country and help the people of Kenya selflessly," he said.

"He loved peace, justice and hard work. If only 10% of Kenyans emulate this, Kenya will be a totally different country," the President added.
