The allegations were made by nominated MP Maina Kamanda, who claimed some Mt Kenya musicians are being paid by Deputy President William Ruto to attack the president.

In a presser at Parliament buildings earlier in the week, the MP claimed Ruto has been paying musicians Sh5 million to portray Uhuru's leadership in bad light.

However, in his response on Thursday, Ngaruiya dismissed the remarks, accusing the MP of likening Mount Kenya musicians to prostitutes.

Ngaruiya said they are fully behind the DP, and will not be abandoning their love for him, adding that its the president who introduced him to them in the run up to the 2013 polls.

“We are with Ruto because we love him and we are not changing minds. Uhuru said he will lead for ten years and later support Ruto’s two-term leadership. Uhuru did not show us Raila and nothing will come between us and our support for Ruto,” he said.

Similar remarks were made by gospel artiste Muigai Njoroge, who recently released a song questioning the state of affairs in the country.

“I have sung many songs in the past which carry political messages. All these time, who has been paying me for them? I think I should be very rich by now if that was the case," he said in a video making rounds on social media.
