Apparently, the man told the police on Wednesday how he planned to kill his wife only for him to be shot in the leg too.

The man had been employed as a driver only to fall in love with his employer's daughter and lived as husband and wife.

After the Saturday night shootout that saw his wife and mother-in-law killed, the man told the police that he and his wife were attacked as he drove into his compound in Katani area.

He noted that the thugs shot his mother-in-law Ann Katita who was opening the gate for him before shooting a bullet into his wife's head who was in the passenger's seat.

The gunmen shot Mwangi on the elf before escaping with an unknown amount of money. He drove himself to Shalom Hospital, 20 kilometres away for treatment.

DCI head of operations Danson Ndilu said that they managed to arrest a GSU officer after a tip-off that he was seeking treatment at Komarock Hospital.

He said that the officer spilt the beans and led them to Kambi estate in Katani where one gangster was shot dead and another police officer escaped.

"The special prevention unit was notified about a civilian seeing treatment over a bullet lodged in his body. We managed to arrest the suspect who gave us crucial links Investigators on the murder of the woman and her daughter. Police officers involved in the crime will not be spared," said Ndilu.
