A man from Rarieda Sub-County in Siaya County was arrested for cyber bullying a 19 year old woman.
Identified as Joseph Maina, the suspect got nabbed on Saturday after booking a hotel with the intention of meeting the woman.
Area police boss Thomas Ototo confirmed the arrest of the 25 year old man after being tricked by the victim. He is currently being held at Aram Police station awaiting arraignment as soon as the investigations are complete.
The suspect sweet-talked Ms Wendy Atieno to send him nude photos before threatening to air them on social media.
"He demanded Sh15,000 from the girl, failure to which he told her to have sex with him," Ototo told the Standard.
The victim allegedly got trapped after the suspect lied to her that he could sponsor her education. Atieno confessed that when she met the suspect on Facebook, he posed as a woman living in the UK and promised to sponsor her.
However, she got suspicious when the suspect revealed that he was a Kenyan man, before convincing her to send nude photos and videos in exchange of Sh 100,000.
"It should be erotic my dear and that should be two minutes. For that I will pay Sh130,000 and it should be me and you in this," read part of the WhatsApp chats.
Atieno decided to trick the suspect to meet her at Ndori. But Atieno alerted the police who arrested Mr. Maina.
"I had not shared this information with anyone and it reached a point when I was contemplating suicide than seeing my photos go viral," Atieno to Standard.
