Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata will coordinate Building Bridges Initiative rallies at the Central Kenya region.
The popularisation campaigns have gathered momentum across the country with ODM leader Raila Odinga taking charge of field trips.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is keen to see the project sailing through, a move which he believes will also cement his legacy.
And Kang'ata, by the virtue of being Senate Majority Deputy Whip, is expected to spearhead the campaigns at the president's backyard.
" I am slated to lead the Building Bridges Initiative activities in Central region," he confirmed.
On Thursday, Kang'ata was one of Central Kenya leaders who met ODM leader Raila Odinga for a closed-door meeting.
Mr Odinga insisted that the project is unstoppable, inviting those believed to be critics on board, arguing that the BBI is meant to unite all Kenyans.
“They have realised that they have been missing the opportunity to participate in the national conversation of uniting Kenyans. They have realised the meetings are not about 2022 or giving people positions but on the agenda of Kenyans,” Mr Odinga said.
Central Kenya will host the meeting at Kiambu towards the end of February before the final rally in Nairobi.
