Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri was among the several mourners who attended the burial of the late athlete legend Nyatinka Mayioro.
Mayioro was buried at his Kiogoro home in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County.
Addressing mourners at the burial the ageing senator said politicians should be at the forefront pushing development but, not retrogressive politics.
"At times I'm shocked with the way some politicians are engaging in politics based on their tribe and clans. Kenyans don't need hatred politics but, development. My urge to politicians is that whether elected or not always focus on development," he noted.
The vocal senator challenged aspiring politicians to stop relying much on propaganda politics.
"Those with plans to be elected in future should always put their thoughts together and champion for development so that they can earn votes when the time comes. Criticizing elected leaders won't help them win votes," he stated.
Ongeri expressed his happiness following the efforts being made by President Uhuru Kenyatta to fight graft.
"Everyone including common Kenyans should put more efforts to ensure corruption comes to an end failure to which development won't be realized," he added.
