Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday hosted former footballer and Jubilee Candidate for the Kibra by-election at his Karen office in Nairobi.
The aspirant was accompanied by grassroots and other elected leaders from Nairobi County. The meeting is geared towards outsmarting ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga in Kibra.
During the meeting, the second in command revealed that Kibra was among the constituencies set to benefit from the housing plan by the Jubilee government.
He asked elected leaders and officials of the Jubilee Party to offer Mariga the support he needs to win the by-election when that time comes. He reminded the residents that it will be easier to channel resources to the constituency if they elect Mariga.
“Kibra and other informal settlements in Nairobi will be among the major beneficiaries of the government’s housing plan under the Big Four Agenda. It is therefore incumbent upon leaders from the area to ensure this affordable and decent shelter dream for every Kenyan is realised,” DP Tweeted.
Mariga has hit the ground running despite facing endless obstacles right from the day he showed interest in the seat. Mariga had earlier been denied clearance by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on the grounds that he was not registered voter in Kibra but the decision was reversed.
