Renowned lawyer Miguna Miguna has revisited the firing of Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.
In a series of tweets, Miguna claimed that Echesa was fired for not allocating money towards the maintenance of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's mausoleum.
He questioned why former Prime Minister Raila Odinga backed the idea of cremating Kibra MP Ken Okoth yet the father's remains have been kept at the mausoleum. He said that Okoth's cremation is not part of the African culture, adding that the family erred
“Months ago, former Sports' CS Rashid Echesa was fired for refusing to spend public funds to take care of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's mausoleum. Why should anyone try to convince us that Ken Okoth's body should have been treated with the indignities of cremation? Luos are not Hindus,” he tweeted.
Echesa has continued to launch attacks at different leaders in the opposition and government since he was fired.
He once claimed that he was sent packing because of his closeness to Deputy President William Ruto. He noted that his staunch support for Ruto got him fired.
“I was sacked because of my unflinching support for Deputy President William Ruto. I am a victim of the 2022 succession politics. There are those who are uncomfortable with my closeness to (Dr) Ruto and they will do everything to separate us,” he said during an interview with Nation after he was fired from office.
