In a video shared on Daily Nation's Facebook page, the Jubilee governor said the president and his deputy would take the blame should Kenya fail.

"There are two people to blame if this country won't rise, Uhuru and Ruto. Both, before talking about Raila should remember where God removed them from in 2013 where they were facing cases at the ICC," Mandago said in the video

The governor is known as a close confidant and a strong believer of DP Ruto's 2022 presidential dreams but his remarks differ with those of the DP's allies led by Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

The two legislators have come out to defend the ‘hustler’ and faulted president Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga of sidelining Ruto. They have accused the two leaders of attempts to sabotage DP's efforts to rise to the presidency.

Many expected Mandago to defend DP Ruto just like what his tribesmen have been doing. Mandago is Ruto's governor and has been defending him all along but his decision to address both leaders equally have sparked sharp opinions on whether the county boss is really supporting DP Ruto or not.
