Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has revealed why Deputy President William Ruto’s name features in most corruption scandals.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live (JKL) show on Wednesday, Mutua said that DP Ruto’s past is the reason most people link him to corruption.
“He should not be criminalised for every scandal. However, his history is the reason Kenyans link him to most corruption cases," said the Machakos Governor.
"When I was in government, he was mentioned in several scandals. The Ndung’u report mentioned him. There are several other cases including the Weston Hotel case,” Mutua added.
Recently, DP Ruto has been in the eye of a storm over his opposition of some agencies in fighting corruption.
He has alleged that the move targets certain individuals and communities. He has stated severally that his 2022 presidential bid is one of the reasons he is being targeted by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
His sentiments have been echoed by politicians allied to him led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.
This has seen several salvos fired back at him, his rivals saying he is afraid of being caught up in more scandals.
