The family of Monica Kimani shocked murder suspect Joseph Irungu alias Jowie who is accused of callously murdering their daughter on September 19 at her Kilimani house.
Through their lawyer, the family opposed Jowie and media personality Jacque Maribe being released on bail.
In making his presentation, the lawyer shocked Jowie when he claimed that the suspect had made contacts to the deceased’s brother asking where he lived.
“It cannot be a coincidence that this contact was made a day before the murder. The family is still in fears,” the lawyer said.
His argument was that Jowie was a danger to the family if released.
Sitting at the dock, Jowie was shocked over the claim and immediately stood and reached for his lawyer Cliff Ombeta.
He was captured by the camera obviously protesting to his lawyer over the claim.
Ombeta was seen calming him.
When it was time for Jowie’s lawyer to present his argument, he dismissed that his client ever contacted the deceased’s brother.
“My Lordship, my learned friend submitted that my client contacted the deceased’s brother and as such is a potential threat. But he never showed prove, there was no such message tabled for you from a number or phone belonging to my client,” Ombeta said.
At that moment, Jowie was seen smiling sheepishly as he chewed gum.
