Governor Obado, who is facing murder charges, has seemingly started embracing ODM team, which he has castigated when he was taken to the dock over the death of university student Sharon Otieno.

At Migori, Matiang'i, who is under pressure from his Gusii backyard to run for Presidency, was received by Obado, MPs Junet Mohamed, Gladys Wanga, Jerusha Momanyi and Mishi Mboko.

The interior minister is a protagonists of Handshake and is slowly becoming a darling to opposition leader Raila Odinga. The leaders are expected to attend several fundraisers in Suna East and Awendo.

Interestingly, the trip to Luo Nyanza comes few hours after Raila's confidants led by Mohamed and John Mbadi, on Friday backed Dr Matiang'i, arguing that his future is bright.

"I have seen in newspapers paper saying that we don't have opposition, that we are asleep. What should we do when there is development going on, the president is also doing pretty good job? We used to do constructive opposition. We are seeing people being arrested for stealing," said Mohamed at Riokindo High School.

The second term MP hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing Dr Fred Matiang'i as chair of powerful Cabinet Committee on implementation of projects, arguing that it was honour to Nyanza people.

Further, he said, ODM was tired with opposition politics, adding that Deputy President William Ruto had already prepared well to take over opposition in 2022.

"The president has also given Dr Matiang'i, our son some big job. What do you want us to oppose? We stopped opposing carelessly. There are some people now preparing to join opposition and we wish them well. There is nowhere it was said that ODM should be in opposition. We are tired with opposition," added Junet.

Mbadi on his part, said Dr Matiang'i is a performer, adding that he will land a bigger job in 2022. He revealed plans to form a government of National Unity, which will bring communities together.

It's the second time Dr Matiang'i is vising Odinga's backyard. Early this year, he was at Homa Bay. For Obado, his popularity in Migori still makes him a key player both in ODM and handshake politics.
