The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report has sparked an intense debate especially over its role in and after the 2022 general elections.
This is after a section of leaders led by Deputy President William Ruto claimed that the report is meant to benefit a few individuals in regard to 2022 general elections.
Other pundits including political analyst Prof Herman Manyora opine that the BBI could be a tool to create a political path for opposition leader Raila Odinga in 2022.
But political analyst Tom Mboya who doubles up as a lecturer at Maseno University believes BBI will not help Raila ascend to power in 2022.
According to him, the supporters of the report are advocating for the agendas of the report and not campaigning for Raila.
“I don’t think the BBI rallies will give Raila a fresh impetus and an advantage over the rest in 2022, unless they stop selling the agenda of the document and dwell on drumming up support for him in the rallies,” he stated.
Raila is yet to declare his candidature in the 2022 polls, leaving many speculating.
