A police vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser registration number GKA 024V, that was stolen from a government parking yard at SGB Police Line, Shauri Moyo estate in Nairobi was found on Thursday morning.
The vehicle was assigned to the transport pool at Jogoo House.
Corporal Cyrus Nyandago, the driver who last drove the vehicle said he had parked it on October 4, 2019.
On December 2, he went back to check on the vehicle, and it was still there. However, on December 3, the vehicle was missing from where it had been parked.
Police launched investigations into the incident and several police officers were arrested.
One of the arrested police officers on Thursday led a team of the Flying Squad detectives to Mwingi, where they found the vehicle and took it to Nairobi Area Police headquarters.
‘’Information reaching our newsroom this morning courtesy of Musa Yego, the boss of Flying Squad, is that the vehicle has been recovered in Mwingi and AP officer have been arrested for stealing that vehicle in Shauri Moyo,’’ reported Citizen TV.
The mysterious disappearance of the vehicle has shocked many who wondered how a police vehicle can be stolen under the watch of police officers.
