The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is facing criticism from Kenyans on social media after it reportedly summoned a dead Member of County Assembly (MCA).
The anti-graft commission summoned the late Central Sakwa MCA Johannes Andiego to record a statement over an alleged trip to Uganda where millions of cash was spent by the Siaya County Assembly.
EACC had directed the deceased to appear before the commission's panel at its Kisumu offices on August 19, 2019, to shed more light on the claims leveled against him, before it emerged that he is now more.
Kenyans have now questioned the manner in which EACC is conducting its probe as the fight against corruption in the country gains momentum.
Andiego, who also served as the chief whip at the Siaya County Assembly died before completing his second term.
He had been re-elected for a second term before he met his untimely death.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) conducted a by-election in the area where his son Charlton Andiego won the seat.
Fourteen MCAs have since been summoned to record statements over the trip to Uganda after millions remain uncounted for at the end of the day.
The commission has vowed to ensure any cash lost is recovered.
