Ford-Kenya Secretary-General Eseli Simiyu has accused Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of using the Kibra by-election as a scapegoat to deny its partners in the National Super Alliance (NASA) funds.
Ford-Kenya, ODM, Amani National Congress (ANC) and Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM-K) came together ahead to 2017 polls and formed NASA in an attempt to wrestle power from Jubilee Party.
However, after the ruling outfit, Jubilee was reelected, the opposition coalition has been slowly disintegrating, with each party pulling a different direction.
The upcoming Kibra by-election is appearing like the last nail in the NASA's coffin after ODM called for the dissolution of the coalition.
Through party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna, the Raila Odinga-led party has faulted its partners for fielding candidates in the November 7 race, claiming it was a plan to snatch 'ODM's seat'.
However, according to Simiyu, ODM was playing the victim as a plot to "run away with our (NASA) funds, courtesy of the coalition agreement."
"They are talking from both corners of the mouth. There is nowhere the agreement says partners cannot field candidates in some areas…" the Tongaren MP told Daily Nation, Wednesday.
In June, NASA received Sh4.1 billion windfall from the Exchequer but the affiliate parties have failed to agree on how to share the money.
Simiyu warned that no party will agree to form an alliance with Raila's party if it will swindle its partners out of the billions.
"They are building a very shaky future for themselves. They are losing trust and nobody will want to form a coalition with them," he said.
