"The Municipal Board will take care of the construction and maintenance of municipal markets, abattoirs, fire stations, emergency and disaster management within the municipality as well as promoting sports and cultural activities within the township."

"The town of Kisii has been having a number of problems and the board will be tasked to find out what some of the problems as well as seek a way of solving them," said Governor Ongwae.

The most common problem witnessed by residents is lack of enough water, and garbage collection, something that the residents have aired to the county government a number of times without getting a solution.

Ongwae gave his gratitude for the county assembly for working with his Government to promote development in Kisii County

"I thank the County Assembly for approving the Municipality Charter which has been instrumental to the actualization of this process and subsequently approving the names of the nominees who will serve in the inaugural Municipality Board," noted Mr. Ongwae
