Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s co-accused, Danson Muchemi, is yet to appear in court to respond to graft charges against him.
Muchemi, who is also JamboPay CEO, has been put on the spot over the embezzlement of Sh24.1 million belonging to the county government.
On Wednesday, the prosecution led by James Kihara said that they were negotiating with the CEO before the case is brought to the court.
Kihara added that his team is holding talks with Robert Mureithi and Zablon Onyango after the arraignment of Sonko over the loss of Sh357 million under unclear circumstances.
He noted that the prosecution had decided not to pursue the suspects at the moment until the negotiations are done.
“I have instructions to postpone the plea due to the negotiations," he said.
Anthony Otieno Ombok and Fredrick Odhiambo appeared in court after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered for their arrests over graft.
Sonko has maintained that he is innocent even after he was barred from accessing his office over the case. The case will be heard proceed on January 27.
