Political analyst Charles Kipkulei has cast doubts on Machakos governor Alfred Mutua's claims that his life is in danger.
The county boss on Monday claimed that his life is being threatened by a section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
He claimed that Ruto, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and his National Assembly counterpart Aden have on two different occasions threatened him.
But the analyst says that the claims can be hard to believe, looking at the political level of the accused, especially Ruto and Duale.
He also suggests that the current political season, where Ruto is eyeing the presidency in the nearing 2022 general elections, would not allow him (Ruto) to be that reckless.
"Duale and Ruto are experienced people and I don't think they can be that reckless (Duale na Ruto ni watu wako na experience na sidhani kama wanaweza kuwa that reckless)," he said.
He spoke on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Tuesday morning, also attended by fellow analyst and strategist David Osiany.
He noted that Mutua is also being pulled down by his history, where he is known as a comical leader who depends largely on dramatic stints for political mileage.
He observed that this could be another of his political stands which he seeks to use to gain relevance ahead of 2022.
He linked it to the kingpin contest in Ukambani region, where Mutua has shown signs of wanting to grab the kingpin slot from Wiper party boss Kalonzo Musyoka.
"Mambo ya Mutua hayanishitui maana ni mwanasarakasi, ni mtu anapenda madrama. Ukiangalia pale Ukambani kuna watu wanataka kumridhi Kalonzo na kwa sababu anaona ameshuka kidogo, anataka aonekane pia yeye yuko," he added.
This translates to: "Mutua's claims don't shock me because he is a man who loves drama. In Ukambani, people are seeking to take over from Kalonzo and since he thinks his popularity is declining, he wants to be seen as still around."
The allegations have also been rubbished by both Murkomen and Duale.
