The lawmaker was arrested outside parliament buildings after he allegedly said that he will personally deport all foreigners conducting trade in his constituency including Gikomba market on Monday.

The remarks never augured well with several countries.

Jaguar said that he will not allow foreigners to take positions meant for the locals including taking part in trade in different markets in his locality.

The legislator made the remarks when he met locals at his backyard.

“We are not talking about six Chinese nationals. We are talking of hundreds of foreigners who work here (Kenya). I give the government 24 hours to evict these foreigners lest I, being a representative of this area, go into their shops, beat them and send them all the way to the airport,” he said in a YouTube video.

The arrest comes after the government disowned the statement of the lawmaker.

Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna had insisted that the lawmaker’s statement was not the government’s positions on the matter.

“We wish to state that this is not the position of the Government of the Republic of Kenya, and we denounce the comments carried in the video in the strongest terms possible,” reads the statement, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
