Samboja is now expected to know his fate after the 30 Members of the County Assembly approved his impeachment.  The Senate committee, which will be chaired by Embu Senator Njeru Ndwiga, will discuss the motion once it is tabled before the house this afternoon.

Ndwiga said that the team had retreated to write a report before appearing before the house.

“We want to finish with this business tomorrow (today) before the House breaks for recess. We are currently writing our report and it will be ready by tomorrow afternoon when we will table it and have senators make a decision on the same,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

Samboja’s woes deepened after he refused to participate in the impeachment proceedings thereby allowing the MCAs to continue with the accusations. The MCAs lamented that the governor has proven beyond doubt that he is incompetent.

The county assembly’s lawyer Charles Njenga asked the Senate to approve the impeachment. A section of leaders from the county have been faulting Deputy President William Ruto for masterminding the woes of the governor.

Samboja has been accused of failing to present the report on the county status to the county assembly and remitting statutory deductions from his administration.

Njenga told the Senate that Samboja had failed to remit Sh38 million which promoted the nurses to down their tools.
