Machakos governor Dr.Alfred Mutua has organized a youth empowerment conference in a bid to discuss unemployment.
In his Facebook account, Mutua said that talking about unemployment was not enough and the youths needed to be guided on various issues concerning getting jobs and making money.
He said in the meeting youths will be guided with an entrepreneurial mindset. He said that every day he is called by many youths seeking financial help and jobs.
He said that many youths are not aware of the opportunities and available funds for them to start businesses. Also, they will be advised on how to get government funding, how to apply for tenders and other things.
"It is not enough to just talk about the unemployment problem being faced by our youth. As a government, we are going a step further to guide the youth, young men or women with an entrepreneurial mindset on how to access government funding, pitch for business and how to apply for tenders among other prospects," said Mutua.
He said that vocational training was offered free to the youths in the county.
"Knowledge is power those who want to elevate themselves should come on 12th February and learn," he said.
