Former AFC Leopards captain Soter Kayumba has inked a one-and-a-half-year deal with Rwandan giants Rayon Sports.
Royan Sports announced their new signee on their Twitter handle on Tuesday.
The contract takes effect from Monday, 23 December 2019.
"How does he look in our colors? Kayumba Soter is no longer a just fan, he is one of us," announced Rayon Sports.
Kayumba, who was handed the armband in the absence of defender Robinson Kamura who was nursing an injury, parted ways with Leopards two months ago after the club failed to pay his three months salary arrears.
He vowed to never return to the club if they fail to secure sponsorship.
AFC's club chairman, Dan Shikanda has already downplayed the move saying he has lined up ‘able’ replacement for Soter Kayumba who had joined them in March 2019 from Sofapaka FC.
The club is currently in serious financial misshape after their main sponsor SportPesa terminated all its sports sponsorship deals in the country after failing to reach a consensus with the government on sports betting tax levy.
Ingwe owes players up to five months salary arrears, a situation that may force several players to leave the club when the January transfer window opens in a week’s time.
Leopards are currently on the seventh place on the KPL table with 22 points, six points behind leaders Gor Mahia.
They are scheduled to play host to Zoo FC at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on January 4th 2020.
