A man in Mukuru Kwa Reuben has been accused of defiling a 3-year-old daughter after her mother allegedly turned down his sexual advances.
The suspect who is alleged to have committed the crime on 19th July at around 10:00 pm is reported to be walking freely in the area.
On the fateful night, the mother together with the step-father of the child had left her alone in the house.
According to a report by Citizen TV, screams from the girl raised the attention of a neighbour who went and rescued her.
"I knocked on the iron sheet and asked her what was going on. Then she told me it was her mother. I called her and told her that her mother would be back. She came and opened the door which apparently had not been locked. (So nikagongagonga mabati, nikamuuliza ni nini, akaniambia ni mum. Nikamwambia kuja mum anakuja. Kuja huku kwangu juu kwao hakuna stima. Stima iko kwangu hapa ni giza. Nikamwambia kuja, mum anakuja. Mtoto alikuja tu, alifungua mlango, ni kama haikua imefungwa)," a neighbour told Citizen TV.
The girl had to undergo reconstructive surgery at Nairobi Women's hospital after a doctor's report indicated that she had been injured severely.
The mother's girl was allegedly chased away when she went to report the matter at Mukuru Kwa Reuben police station.
Makadara OCPD James Mitugo confirmed to Citizen TV that he was aware of the case but said the suspect was on the run.
