Kasalu said the former Vice President is the senior most Ukambani leader hence deserves respect.

Speaking in Mutumo Town on Wednesday, the county MP said it is annoying that some politicians are personalizing attacks on Kalonzo.

Kasalu said the Wiper leader remains the region's political kingpin.

“Ukambani governors must do their work without launching personal and malicious attacks on Kalonzo Musyoka,” she said.

She said it is wrong for the  Ukambani governors to blame Kalonzo for the region’s poor development record.

Kasalu said Kalonzo should not be blamed for underdevelopment in Ukambani since he did not have a kitty for development during his reign.

“Now that the Ukambani governors control billions of shillings every financial year, they should initiate development without shifting blame games,” she said.

She said as Wiper leaders, they will fight attempts by some Kamba politicians to demean Kalonzo.

The former Vice President is facing a rebellion in Ukambani as he eyes to contest 2022 presidential election.

Last week, Governors Ngilu, Kibwana, and Mutua formed the People’s Empowerment Movement (PEM) to champion the region's development.

Political analysts have equated the movement to a political strategy aimed at countering Kalonzo’s dominance in Kamba politics.

A section of politicians allied to Kalonzo led by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has rubbished the People’s Empowerment Movement.
