Led by area chief Fred Obae at Magombo shopping center, they  said the transformer which has been supplying electricity in the region exploded three weeks ago.

He said efforts by locals to push Kenya Power officials to replace the transformer have not yielded fruits.

"Nyagarama should intervene so that we can get electricity. Kenya Power officials have gone missing despite the numerous calls we have made to thier office to help in replacing the transformer," said Obae.

The administrator said locals who depend on electricity are living in fear because criminals may take advantage of darkness to terrorize them.

"Our people are not secure due to the darkness. On behalf of the residents I am asking Governor Nyagarama and other elected leaders to come to our rescue," he stated.

Jemimah Nyabuto, a trader said for the last three weeks, traders have been closing businesses early in fear of criminal attacks.

"We close businesses so that we can reach our homes before it is dark. Nyagarama should immediately ensure KPLC officials replace the transformer," she stated.
