Former Mukurwe-Ini lawmaker Kabando Wa Kabando now wants Jubilee Party members allied to the Tangatanga faction to apologize to Kibra parliamentary hopeful McDonald Mariga.
This is after Mariga's candidature was on Tuesday invalidated by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for not being a registered voter.
The leader now wants the group, which is deemed to be in support of Deputy President William Ruto, to apologize to the soccer star for attempting to use him for electoral fraud.
In a tweet Tuesday, he said that it has always been clear that Mariga was not fir for the race, and wants the Tangatanga group to apologize to Kenyans for the same, even after prior warnings
He also advised them to convert the movement into a political group and use their attacks on President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Premier Raila Odinga as their manifesto.
“WE” loudly cautioned that Mariga wasn’t “real” Jubilee Kibra candidate. #Tangatanga should apologize to Mariga, country for attempted electoral fraud. Convert Tangatanga into your party ‘sabotageUhuru’-‘insult-Raila’ your manifesto!" he wrote.
Mariga's candidature has been in question since day one, where some members questioned the reasons behind his direct nomination, despite there having been other hopefuls.
Pundits including lawyer Steve Ogolla has since warned that he is not a Kibra voter, with Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi too terming it useless processing him for the November 7 by-election.
"Mariga does not live in Kibra, has never participated in any electoral process in Kenya, has no active philanthropic program in Kibra, is semi-illiterate, how is he expected to fit into the gigantic shoes of Ken Okoth," said Atandi.
Gatundu South lawmaker Moses Kuria would even be spotted campaigning for an ODM candidate ahead of the Saturday primaries.
Nominated MP Maina Kamanda has also vowed to back an ODM candidate.
